As the CFMoto brand becomes more and more familiar among the offroading community, so too does its line of UForce utility vehicles.  Among these is the UForce 600, one of CFMoto’s mid-size utility models.

As a utility vehicle geared more towards working than recreation, the UForce 600 boasts impressive low-end power and can handle most work tasks you throw at it.

But just how fast is a CFMoto UForce 600?

If you’re asking that question, you’ve come to the right place.  This guide will detail the following:

  • The UForce 600 top speed
  • Modifications to increase the UForce 600 top speed
  • UForce 600 top speed in stock vs. modified units
  • The electronic speed limiter and whether you can bypass it

CFMoto UForce 600 Top Speed

Powered by a 580 cc engine with an output of around 40 horsepower, the CFMoto UForce 600 top speed is around 50 to 53 mph depending upon the terrain and load weight.

It’s not one of the fastest utility side-by-sides in the industry, but is still one of the best in its class.

That said, you’ll need to ensure you are in the correct mode to achieve this.

Speed in Work Mode vs. Normal Mode

The UForce 600 features two different modes for drivers to operate in – Work mode and Normal mode.  Owners can select the mode via the switch on the dash.

Normal mode is for more casual driving and cruising around the neighborhood or one’s property, so the acceleration and throttle response will be a bit mellowed.

As such, the UForce 600 will only top out at speeds of between 46 to 48 mph in High gear when in Normal mode.

In Work mode, the vehicle can reach its full speed and power potential.

The clutch engages the belt quicker offering better acceleration and throttle response, with the UForce 600 able to reach its top speed of 50 to 53 mph while in High gear in this mode.

Speedometer May Be Incorrect

Similar to the issue experienced in the UForce 1000, the speedometer in the UForce 600 may not always give you an accurate speed reading.

This issue occurs because there is a known flaw with CFmoto UForce UTVs, including the UForce 600, where the tire circumference setting is not accurate out of the box.

Since the speedometer displays speed based upon this tire circumference setting, if your UForce 600 is set wrong then your speed reading will not be accurate.

Owners should check to ensure their tire circumference setting is set correctly, and calibrate the speedometer if not.  This can be done using the digital display in the dash.

With the stock tires being 25 inches in diameter, the correct circumference setting for those with stock tires should be 78.5 inches.

Increasing The Speed

For those who want the ability to cut loose a little more when work turns to play, there are a few different ways to increase the speed and power of the UForce 600.

All of them will require making some modifications, and can result in adding around 10 – 15 mph to the top speed of your UForce.

Bypassing the Speed Limiter

The UForce 600 has an electronic speed limiter in place as a safety feature for the engine.

While this speed limiter is in place for good reason and it is not recommended, owners do have the ability to have their Electron Control Unit reprogrammed in order to overcome it and increase the achievable top speed.

Having the ECU reprogrammed will require sending it in to be tuned by an aftermarket professional, such as the team over at Main Street Cycle.

Having the ECU tuned will remove this speed limiter, but will also benefit your vehicle in a couple other ways.

A tune will recalculate your UForce’s optimal air to fuel ratios and reprogram them within the ECU, which will lead to more horsepower and better throttle response across all RPM and throttle levels.

This will lead to more speed and power for your UTV.

Additionally, having the ECU tuned usually includes the option of having the radiator fan reprogrammed so that it engages at lower engine temperatures, which will help to avoid any overheating issues and is highly recommended.

The folks over at Main Street Cycle offer highly recommended ECU tunes for all UForce models, including the UForce 600.

A tune of the ECU is also essential if you plan to upgrade your air intake or exhaust systems as well, which we’ll discuss next.

Upgrading The Air Intake

The air intake system consists of components such as the air filter and airbox, and is responsible for providing the UForce 600’s engine with enough clean air that it can breathe properly.

The more airflow into and out of the engine, the more power it can generate.

To increase this airflow, you can make modifications to the airbox and upgrade the air filter.

Both UNI Filters and K&N Filters make intakes upgrades for the UForce 600 that are highly recommended by other owners.

The second part of increasing airflow lies in upgrading the exhaust system.

Upgrading The Exhaust

In order to provide this added airflow into the engine with an efficient exit once used up, you should consider upgrading the stock exhaust system.

Upgrading the exhaust should provide more horsepower, torque, and overall speed throughout all RPM levels, especially the higher ones where the top speed is limited.

And not only that, but an upgraded exhaust will provide your UForce 600 with an enhanced tone when riding.

Install a Clutch Kit

Similar to the CFMoto UForce 1000, some UForce 600 models are also affected by issues with the clutch.

The stock clutch is known to cause jerkiness when throttling, especially from a stopped position.

Some UForce 600 owners also report needing to hold the throttle wide open when climbing long, steep hills with two passengers and the power fading on the way up.

This lack of power and speed is likely due in part to the stock clutch being inferior.

To overcome these clutch issues and increase both the power and speed in the vehicle, owners can install an aftermarket clutch kit, such as those made by RNG.

Most of these aftermarket clutch kits include an upgraded spring and weights for the primary clutch and an upgraded helix for the secondary clutch, which make a big difference in the performance of the vehicle.

Reclock The Secondary Clutch

Installing a clutch kit is not the only option.  The secondary clutch contains an adjustable spring, which owners can reclock to affect the power and speed as well.

The UForce 600 comes set at a factory B-1 setting.  For more top end speed and a less jerky ride, it is recommended that owners move to either the A-1 or C-1 setting.

While this should have a positive effect on the performance of the UForce 600, it won’t have quite as much effect as a clutch kit will.

CFMoto UForce 600 Not Reaching Top Speed

If your UForce was properly broken in but is unable to reach a top speed of at least 50 mph in Work mode, there are some actions you can take to try and overcome this.

Upgrade To Bigger Tires

The UForce 600 comes equipped with 25-inch diameter stock tires in the front and rear.

Replacing the stock tires with bigger aftermarket tires may add anywhere from three to five miles per hour to your vehicle’s top end speed.

Many owners have found success with a move to 26-inch or 27-inch aftermarket tires, seeing a small increase in speed from this alone.

It’s important to remember that if replacing the tires with a bigger size, you’ll want to give serious consideration to upgrading your UForce’s stock clutch system as well to compensate for this change and reach top performance.

Inspect the Drive Belt

Similar to the UForce 1000, the stock clutch in the UForce 600 can be a bit harsh on the drive belt.

This may be especially true if you’ve added bigger tires and not upgraded the clutch system to account for it.

Ensure the drive belt is not worn or loose, as this could prevent the UForce 600 from reaching its top speed.

If your vehicle tends to snap forward when accelerating or you experience rough acceleration in general, these are signs the drive belt may need replacing.

Guaranteeing that the drive belt is both fresh and tightly fit should help to increase the top speed of the UTV.

Fully Inflate The Tires

The UForce 600 is fitted with 25-inch stock tires.  Per the owner’s manual, the suggested tire pressure is 10 PSI in the front tires and 14 PSI in the rear tires.

Underinflation can lead to less speed, so ensuring that the tires are inflated to their proper tire pressure should have a positive effect on your vehicle’s top end speed.

Run High Octane Gas

Running 91 or or 93 octane gas in your UForce will result in better overall engine performance and a potential higher speed.

It will also lead to a longer life for the engine components.

Check The Spark Plugs

If the spark plugs have become worn or fouled, they might not ignite fuel at the proper rate which can decrease the engine performance.

If fouled, it is recommended to replace them with high performance iridium spark plugs.

CFMoto UForce 600 Top Speed & Break-In Period

Owners of a new UForce 600 should pay special attention to the instructions in the owner’s manual regarding the break-in period for this model.

The break-in period refers to the first 20 hours or 200 miles of driving, whichever comes first, during which time the engine and its components wear and polish themselves to the correct operating clearances.

During this time, it is important to avoid excessive engine heat.

Before operating your new UForce 600, you should check the level of the engine oil to ensure it is properly filled.  You should also check the coolant levels as well.

Once you’ve done that and you’ve fired up your vehicle, you should also let it idle for a good one or two minutes before giving it any gas.

To help avoid excessive engine heat upon driving it, the owner’s manual recommends that owners drive slowly using varying throttle positions, while avoiding continuous operation above ½ throttle for the first ten hours or 100 miles and continuous operation above ¾ throttle from ten to twenty hours, or 100 to 200 miles.

You should also ensure you are varying throttle positions and not operating a sustained throttle position or a sustained idle for long periods of time.

It is also recommended not to pull or carry any heavy loads during the break-in period.

Once you’ve made it through the break-in period, you should go ahead and change the engine oil and air filter.

That said, be sure to check the air filter, oil level, and coolant level periodically during the break-in period as well.

Not adhering to this break-in period could have negative long-term effects on the engine, with it never reaching peak performance or the ability to hit top speeds.

Conclusion

While the CFMoto UForce 600 top speed is between 50 to 53 mph due to the existence of an electronic speed limiter, this speed limiter can be bypassed and the top speed increased by way of some common modifications if desired.

For owners who do not want to modify their vehicles, simply ensuring that the components of the vehicle responsible for speed are in top shape, using a high octane fuel, and properly breaking in the engine should be enough to ensure the vehicle can reach its top speed.
