This guide will focus on a review of CFMoto UForce models as a whole but with more of an emphasis on the current models.

Specs, Features & Performance

Engines

Positives

  • UForce engines offer excellent low-end torque and power, giving these models plenty of grunt  to handle any working task and make light work of steep hills and rough terrain.
  • The engine and filters are located directly beneath the rear dump bed, offering easy access when needing to perform maintenance.
  • The big V-Twin in the 1000 models is rather quiet and puts out minimal engine vibration.

Negatives

  • The single cylinder in the 600 is noticeably louder than the V-Twin in the 1000 models, making it hard to hear passengers in the cab while driving.
  • At higher speeds, the engine in the 600 does put out some noticeable engine vibration.

Drivetrains

Positives

  • Two different drive modes – Work Mode and Normal Mode – offer you the option of driving more casually or giving the vehicle its full range of speed and power.
  • Selectable 2WD/4WD with locking front differential make these models highly capable of tackling the toughest off-road terrain.
  • High and Low gears, along with Neutral, Reverse, and Park settings.

Negatives

  • Both models experience some common issues with the clutch system which lead to a jerk ride and poor throttle response at low speeds, leading to the need to install a clutch kit and have the ECU tuned to alleviate this.  This issue has been addressed by CFMoto and minimized for 2023 models.
  • The gear shift is known to stick and be hard to shift at times, especially in brand new units.
  • Lack of unlocking rear differential in the 1000 can lead to tire marks on driveways or tearing up the sod in yards when turning too sharply.

Suspensions

Positives

  • Independent front and rear suspension enables the wheels to react independently to holes and bumps, making for a smooth ride.
  • Arched gull wing double A-Arms up front offer good ground clearance.
  • Coil spring shocks offer multiple preload settings so you can find the best for your riding style and the terrain.

Negatives

  • The turning radius in these models isn’t all that impressive, making turning around on narrow trails a bit tricky.

Tires & Brakes

Positives

  • Stock tires perform well in most terrains and conditions, offering good traction.
  • Hydraulic disc brakes on all four wheels give these models plenty of stopping power.
  • Between the suspension, tires, and brakes set-ups, it’s easy for you to actually feel what’s happening as you drive these models.

Negatives

  • While the stock tires are solid, you’ll run out of traction in some steep/soft terrains with plenty of power still left from the engine so you may want to upgrade depending upon your riding style.
  • Even with parking brake activated, you can still drive away in these models which will do a number on your brakes if you do.

Dimensions & Capacities

Positives

  • Even with bigger overall builds, these utility models offer good maneuverability and stability.
  • Power steering helps to make these heavier models easy to handle and control.
  • Each model offers an excellent towing capacity and a good-sized rear cargo bed with plenty of hauling capacity.

Negatives

  • With bulky build styles, these models aren’t capable of traversing tight trails.
  • Their heavy weights leave them prone to running into trouble in steep, soft terrain.

Recreational Ability

While CFMoto’s line of UForces are built as utility vehicles with a focus on working and power, they do still offer some pretty impressive recreational appeal.

Plenty of low-end torque makes them capable of tackling most trails, but the issues some older models face with throttle response in Low gear at lower speeds can make trail riding a bit jerky.

That said, for those who have alleviated that issue by way of a clutch kit or ECU tune, these machines are capable of handling just about any terrain.

And these models offer impressive speed, able to match most of the bigger name models in their classes when you want to really open it up.

Top Owner Compliments

  • It’s hard to find better performance for the price across the UTV industry, and adding a few of the most popular CFMoto UForce 1000 accessories will put it on the same level with any of the competition.
  • Equipped with many accessories that are considered extras with bigger name competitors, making these models both trail and road ready from the jump.
  • Excellent power and low end grunt to perform any working task you throw at them.
  • Standard power steering makes these bulky models easy to handle and control for drivers of all sizes.
  • Suspension system is excellent, offering a smooth ride and plenty of ability to customize the ride to your liking.
  • Good versatility, offering excellent working ability and plenty of recreational appeal.
  • CFMoto has addressed and minimized the issues that plagued past models for 2023.

Top Owner Complaints

  • Some pre-2023 models are known for their jerky rides at lower speeds due to issues with the stock clutch system and poor throttle response.
  • The shift linkage tends to transfer to an incorrect position over time, leading to gear shift sometimes sticking making it hard to shift gears.
  • The speedometer and odometer are known to be inaccurate due to the tire circumference setting being too big in some new units.
  • The cab areas can be prone to excessive heat, making driving on hotter days uncomfortable.
  • The single cylinder engine in the 600 is loud and engine vibration is quite noticeable at higher speeds.

Final Word

If you’re looking for a budget utility vehicle that provides a good mix of working ability and recreational appeal, you’re barking up the right tree with CFMoto’s line of UForces.

That said, like with all utility vehicles, the UForces do have their drawbacks.

But with the performance, accessories, and attractive build style they offer at their price point, those drawbacks are pretty easy to overlook.
